CROSSCUE ∴ Hybrid Intelligence, Data & Applied R&D

Crosscue is a Welsh intelligence technology and research company working across open-source intelligence, geospatial and imagery analysis, large-scale data exploitation, software development and applied R&D.

Our work focuses on extracting useful intelligence from complex, high-volume and often incomplete sources. We combine human analysis with custom software, artificial intelligence and large-scale data processing, using each where it adds value rather than treating them as separate disciplines.

Our experience includes geospatial analysis at scales extending into the petabyte range, particularly using commercial mobility and AdTech-derived location data. We also work with AIS, ADS-B and other open-source datasets, developing methods and software for identifying patterns, relationships, anomalies and changes across time and geography.

Imagery and geospatial intelligence are another core part of our work. This includes the analysis of satellite electro-optical and synthetic aperture radar (SAR) imagery, together with geographic, infrastructure and other contextual data. We are particularly interested in combining different forms of evidence rather than relying on any single source in isolation.

Software development underpins much of this activity. We build custom analytical components, APIs, applications, data pipelines and automated visualisations where commercial tools do not adequately address the problem. Current research includes orbital change and anomaly detection using TLE data, automated data exploitation workflows and the use of AI to assist intelligence analysis, triage and interpretation.

Our background also spans RF and radar systems, sensing technologies and sensor data exploitation. This provides useful context when analysing technical systems and informs exploratory R&D into new sensing approaches. Current early-stage research includes event-driven optical concepts relevant to Space Domain Awareness and RF techniques for detecting and characterising transient activity in complex electromagnetic environments.

We describe this approach as hybrid intelligence: combining data, imagery, geography, technical understanding, software and human judgement to investigate complex systems and develop better ways of observing change.

Crosscue works across defence, security and space, and is interested in collaborative research, data exploitation, software development, trials and technology development with government, industry, academia and other innovation partners.
